Ladia and Michael. I agree, Tammi would have probably left Motown to get better
promotion of her solo career. But I tell you one thing, Tammi could have given
Miss Ross a damn good run for her money! I sure wish there were more Tammi
material available, like video of her, interviews, etc. I have never seen an
autograph of Tammi for auction (not even on Ebay!), but if I had had the
opportunity to meet Tammi, shoot I'd never sell her autograph, but I'd
copy it and send it to deserving fans free! Well, tomorrow is the 39th
anniversary of Tammi's passing, I'm gonna play her music and watch the
Marvin DVD with Tammi on it (there's a blooper on the Marvin/Tammi section,
Tammi is singing but not moving her mouth! Motown has never really did right by
Tammi after her passing, look at how long we had to wait on some of the
beautiful solo tracks! Thank God for Motown UK putting out the Essential
Collection!). God Bless You, Tammi, we still love you and miss you!

Hi Ladia,
I've often wondered how Tammi would adapt to the later musical trends
(such as disco). Given her great versatility, I've no doubt she would
have been successful. Although she probably would have had to eventually
break away from Motown, as (unfortunately) , her solo career wasn't one
of Berry Gordy's top priorities. As brilliant as her Motown output is,
I've always maintained that in order to fully appreciate Tammi's
musical
abilities, one has to also hear her pre-Motown work. A shame that it
isn't more readily available--somethin g a career-spanning anthology
would easily remedy.
